Morning Skin Care Routine – From a novice

So another change from the usual food posts. You may hate this and think why is she posting this or you may think I’m in the exact same position. This blog is an experiment for me and sometimes the posts are as well so bare with if you are not interested. I know the key to good skin is exercise and diet but I think you might have to actually put some graft in too.

When I grew up my mum didn’t take much interest in her skin apart from applying moisturiser daily and she hadn’t aged that bad (you’re welcome mum). Now I’m surrounded by blog, vlogs and professionals telling me that I need to have a good skincare routine in place to keep my fresh young looks for as long as possible? Is this true or is in the market just trying to sell me as many nice smelling products as possible. I’ll doubt I’ll never know anytime soon but I do try to have some type of skin care routine and I found have that it has made by skin less dry and reduced my constant battle with acne a little.

Then again I still have days when this all goes out the window, when I just get dressed and forget to do my skin care routine and there are nights when I go to bed with my make-up on! The make-up bloggers out there will hate that. This blog is nothing but honest and I’ve tried to show you what my skin care routine is when I remember.

6.30-7.30am wake up depending up whether it’s a work day or not.

1. Cleanse

My go-to daily cleanser at the moment is Simple Kind to Skin Vital Vitamin Foaming Cleanser. I find it leaves me skin feeling very fresh, dewy and it is extremely affordable. Sometimes I’m tempted my skin products that are a bit pricier because of the good reviews but I need to keep reminding myself I’m trying to save money. I also use a couple of times a week (when I remember) the Sanctuary Spa Moisture Burst Facial Wash that has little pink beads in it to exfoliate your skin. I find this helps with my under-the-skin acne but if I use it more than this it drys my skin out.

2. Toner

I use Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner as it smells of citrus and is just nice on a cotton pad swiped on the face. I understand not everyone uses toner and this is a step I’ve recently added that I think is helping my skin look more healthy. I then let it sink into the skin whilst I do step 3.

3. Brushing my teeth

Woah this isn’t part of my skin routine?! Well it is for me as whilst I leave my toner to work it’s magic, I brush my teeth using whatever toothpaste is available to hand. Twice a week I use Eucryl whitening toothpowder to try and make my teeth a little bit whiter. Again another affordable brand and it was bought for me by Andy as I kept complaining about my teeth.

4. Moisturise

I try and do this daily even if I don’t do any of the other steps. I use Nivea Pure and Natural Daily Soothing Day Cream as it’s thick and creamy, so not instantly wiping off the skin but again affordable. I rub it into all my face and my neck.

5. Eyecream.

I am a bit biased in this area as I have only tried one eyecream in my 24 years of life and it has nearly ran out so I will try a different eye cream. However at the moment I use Bare Minerals Minxeralixirs Eye Nourishing Oil Balm (No longer been sold) under my eyes and around my eyes. I advice only a little bit is needed and pat it in otherwise you look like you had been crying, something I’ve done a few times.

Other products I use:

If I’ve had a morning/evening show I use Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter after the shower on my legs and arms to make them super soft.

I also use the Body Shops’ foot cream (It’s in french for some reason but they no longer sell it) as it smells like candy canes and it also makes feet so so soft!

You may think is that it? Well I’m a novice and I think when I know so little about my skin and the products that are needed, why spend so much and use wasted products? I’m constantly reading up about it and as you can see it has developed a little bit and maybe in the future I can show you an updated routine but at the moment this is just my little routine.
